Shadow Build

If in doubt, or it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere - put it here.

I would like to get the cad plating done in the Seattle area. Art Brass Plating does it as well as chrome plating. Last parts I had plated were in LA. I'm interested in your cad power supply if you find it. I've tried a Caswell kit on a few parts but wasn't happy with the results.

I've been slacking off on the Shadow while taking care of a few other things, including another eye surgery.
I did get a few more fasteners cleaned up for the cad plating. Also made a few special nuts and extra thick head bracket washers.

I upgraded my Caswell cad plating kit with an adjustable voltage power source which allows for setting the voltage based on amount of surface area. This will be an improvement over the 6 volt battery used in the past.

I have what appears to be the same adjustable DC power supply. Very handy for testing and verifying wiring harness for bikes that have no battery. So far it appears to be working well and no issues.
I like the adjustable current also.

Interesting that they used not only differing lengths, but slightly different thread pitch on similar studs.
I thought I recalled Whitworth used a slightly different angle for the thread cut too? (Over SAE ‘standard’) Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly.

The coarse thread usually is usually anchored in place. Gives a better bite in aluminum. The finer thread is better for holding tightness of the parts.
I now have a complete set of ss screws for the covers. I have several boxes of fillister head screws in an assortment of sizes so decided to modify them to like the standard cheese head screws originally used. Heads had to be turned down some and the top faced flat. My assortment of taps and dies are getting tired so have ordered some replacements. The screw on the right is an original steel screw.

Looking great! Good idea on the screws.

Had a good time at the WVM bike show in Lynden this past weekend. Lots of cool bikes and goodies. I think around 100 or more entries. Larry and I took seven bikes over. I hadn't planned on buying anything but came home with another Pursang. Another project :?

I was going to go to the Linden show, but got a sore throat the day before and didn’t feel like getting up at 4:30 to drive there. (Of course, next day I was fine). If the next ferry had space I think I would have gone. Oh well, I probably would have done something dumb and bought another bike too.

Picture of the Pursang?

My first bike was a Rickman Bultaco Metisse. Then a new Pursang in 72 as well as a 360 El Bandido. Since then I've always had a Bultaco. A few years ago I traded my old lathe for a Mk10/192 250cc Pursang. The Mk10/193 is very similar except it's a 370cc. Both cool bikes and will get restored at the same time.

Looks very nice. Is that a rear wheel on the front?

I got another OSSA, an Explorer- he traded me for a Phantom frame I had. I don’t need it (by any means) and I think I will just get it operating and sell/trade.

Darn Spanish bikes anyway. Ha!

It's the correct wheel, not sure what the plan was with the big knobby.
