Vintage Motorcycle Eccentrics

What's going on with all the projects out there? Did they get pushed back to take care of more 'important' projects.
George is finishing up his new shop, Larry C is finishing up remodeling the house and Davie has finished his new home
and sold the old one. I'm at the end of the basement project.
Work is progressing on Ron's Goldstar Clubman and with a few more hard to find parts in hand he will have a beautiful classic.
Next project will either be the BSA Goldstar Catalina or the BSA Hornet. Both are interesting bikes built for racing. The Hornet actually has a lighting kit on it that was sold by BSA to make it street legal.

So, what's going on with your project???

Making steady progress on the Sprint but it has been a challenge, thank goodness I got two of them to build one. I fabbed up an electronic ignition from a modern Wisconsin one lunger for it and its putting out excellent spark and looks like the mechanical advance will work fine. It should be running soon but will be awhile before its ridable as it needs a seat and the front wheel laced up. The Ascot is overcharging its battery but I have a coveted Shindengen 775 rec/reg for it that I need to get mounted up, but I have been riding it anyway. Coya and I rode the Suzuki GS1000 up to the tulip fields last weekend, our first significant ride on it two up and it did great-love that bike. Rode the Bonneville a few miles recently but want to get some decent 6V coils for it as recommended by Pazon ignitions that I fitted up last year. Leif has the 350-4 up in Bellingham with him now, running good. I have only been out dirt biking once since fall and feel the need- anybody up for it? I bet the dirt is awesome about now! I might even share a bike if need be - let me know Doug

Here's Ron's engine for the Goldstar. Getting close to finishing. Still no luck finding a gearbox main shaft
so the plan is to grind it undersize and replace the output bushing to fit.

We got the gearbox shaft ground and new bushing installed in the output gear. Next will be trying to solve the eccentricity of the clutch chainwheel basket. Obviously a wobbler since 1962. This causes the primary chain to tighten/loosen every revolution. Just another little twist in restoring old bikes.

I sourced an engine for my OSSA GPII- (I bought this bike new, sold it and along the way the engine was lost and a Kawasaki huge engine installed).
I am slowly working on the frame to fix the damage with the engine swap and someday it will be back to stock.

No idea how long.

Mark, cool that you found your old bike and are going to restore it. We've been known to bend some tubes and make some frames around here so let me know if you need any help.

John, I believe Mark used to own the AJS motor I gave you.

Wow, didn't know that. Probably too big to put in a Ossa frame. May even weigh more than an Ossa too. I have never seen a 250cc 4 stroke that weighs so much.

When I had it, the bike was complete. I knew I’d never get around to bringing it back to life and gave it away.

If memory serves, Mark, you gave it to Mel Kossen, he told me the frame was broken so all he kept was the motor.
