Battery suggestions

Postby ClineDesign » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:41 pm

I'm looking for a small battery for my '77 GS 550 project. The battery must be small and able to be mounted flat. I've been looking at a Bikemaster 78-0542 12v TrueGel 7A Battery 4.48" (w) x 2.79" (d) x 4.17" because it will fit best. Can anyone point me to a better battery? Will this battery have enough cranking power?
Always wear protective gear. Usually SPF 30 will do.

Thanks for the tip. That battery will fit great. Do those batteries require a special charger thus increasing the cost? Will buy from our local friendly dealer for sure.

The website says you can use a regular charger- as long as it does NOT have a desulfation mode.
Battery Tender brand does not.

Some had said they had bad luck using other than the Shorai charger

IVE GOT THE BIKE MASTER GELL BATT. THEY WILL WORK UPSIDE DOWN AND TAKE ALOT OF SHOCK. NOT THE HIGHEST AMP OPTION BUT WOULD BE FINE FOR THAT BIKE. 60BUX. IVE GOT SHORAI BATTS AS WELL,USUALLY +100CCA OVER STOCK AND SUPER LITE WEIGHT. THEY CHARGE BEST WITH THE SHORAI CHARGER,FLAT RATE CHARGE. MOST BATTERY TENDERS WAVE OR PULSE. IVE GOT OTHER LI BATT OPTIONS AS WELL. SOME ARE SO STRONG THEY CAN CATCH A AIRPLANE ON FIRE!

I spend way too much time on Dime City... and soon they'll be offering cafe and street tracker parts for modern Triumph twins. No wonder I'm short of cash all the time.
