I'm quite comfortable sharing my ignorance, and perhaps this is no exception.

I'm sure there are many reasons for vintage love, but right near the top for me - simplicity. Holy crap...every time I dig into one of my Vertigos, the 800XC, the Xtrainer or even the fairly basic XT250's - I can count on it being several hours for most anything. I'm slow, but still.

I could tell by looking at this bike it wasn't complicated, but man...under 10 minutes, start to finish to yank a TY engine. Yank carb, exhaust and three bolts. I kinda like that.

Say when, John - I'll be over. Heck, since you're gonna be helping me so much - least I could do is take 30 minutes and yank a couple of your TY engines.

Both clamps are the same just different size bore for the fork tube size. Taper bearings are a must, gives the front end a more solid feel and will last forever

Yes, vintage bikes are addicting but rewarding too. Many times they give back more than you expect. Real patience comes when a part is NA and you have to make it. Like maybe a TY kick lever?? Are they gold plated?
Give me a heads up when you can make it over and we will split your engine. I need to clear the shelves and get organized before we tear done the others.

eBay score x 2.

Another seemingly rare item are OEM service manuals. I've been watching for a while, and most are either totally trashed or $150+ for NOS.

Scored this fine used specimen for $40 delivered. 98% condition.

And - TY250 forks arrived. No doubt they need servicing and a little TLC, but I think they'll clean up fine.

I've got loads of polishing stuff here if you want to get ambitious with those lower fork legs.

Sweet! Now...to find you a set of decent TY250 tubes. I'll keep an eye out.

If I can find as good a deal as I did on the last set, maybe you'll get them gratis - wanna keep the brains and talent of this duo happy.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of expensive crap like this out there. This guy wants $250!

Those are crispy critters for sure.
Here's an idea I doubt anyone has tried before. No reason it won't work. Just need to find a decent welder.

OK, I've stared at it far too long - I give up. All I see is a 7/8" rod in the bar clamps.

What is it?
