Vincent at Bonneville World Finals

Vincent has been setting land speed records at Bonneville since 1948. My friend Alp has done it again with a basically stock 1948 engine in his special built frame. The old record for a 1000cc A class vintage fuel was 150+. It is now 177+.
His goal is 200 mph and I'm sure he will get it done. His style is very unorthodox but works well for him.

Vincent has done it again. In two outings the bike had performed well, setting records at both meets.
The goal is to be the first 1000cc vintage class bike over 200mph.

Here's Alp on a record run at El Mirage last month. Not bad for a 72 year old motor.

The Vincent has done it again, again. Raising the record by 20 mph. 200 is the goal and still have 2 more days to go at it.

On this day 73 years ago Vincent and Rollie Free set the land speed record with a production motorcycle at 150.
Today Alp set a new AV 1000cc record at 193+.

This pic was taken soon after Alp set the new record. The bike will be taken down for a quick inspection then back to Bonneville for the World Finals Sept 28th. This could be Alp's best chance to go 200.

Alp has done it again with this beautiful Triumph land speed bike. He will be going for the APF-1000cc record which is 167mph. The motor is actually a 750cc .with 030 oversize pistons. Fuel will be 92% nitro. The plan is to make some breakin runs at Speed Week then go for the record at World of Speed.

Update: This weekend Alp won the Founders Award at the Born Free Show. Now it's time to prepare for Bonneville.
