New web site address

If in doubt, or it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere - put it here.

New web site address

Postby Da Nag » Sat Jun 20, 2020 3:41 pm

I'm guessing nobody even noticed the change...

As of several days ago, any request to http://www.olymoto.com is redirecting to http://www.olymoto.org. Check out the address bar in your browser, it's currently happening automatically - but only for another week or so. You'll all want to update your bookmarks to reflect the "org" address if that's how you get here. I'll also send out a board email to everyone registered here just in case they don't check in and see this before then. Nothing else changes - it's the same site under the covers. All the content remains, links will work, logins are the same, etc.

I've major plans for the OlyMoto name, which I'll share soon - just putting the final touches on the project now. As we discussed early on when I came up with and snagged OlyMoto, if there's ever a desire to point something here that actually reflects what we call ourselves or what we do - that's easily done. MCVE.org, MCVintageEccentrics.com, MotorcycleVintageEccentrics.com - lots of options. I'll pick up the tab, register it and point the site to any more relevant address the group wishes. Or, just keep accessing it via OlyMoly.org if nobody cares. Given there are about five regular visitors here, consensus shouldn't be too tough. :D

As of 1623 on 20June, Safari is denying that the server at www.olymoto.org exists.

However, the lint your details topic works fine.

Jay just pointed that out to me elsewhere. http://olymoto.org works fine, and will continue to do so - so anyone can bookmark that if they like.

I've fixed the underlying issue, but it's a DNS thing. For most folks, the www link will work in the next 30 minutes or so. However, the change can take up to 24 hours to propagate across the entire Internet.

www.olymoto.org appears to be working now.

As most of you well know, change a CNAME, or alias, record in your DNS can be intimidating.

Firefox questioned my first attempt to sign in but accepted it after I verified it safe.
Looking forward to what's coming.
Appreciate you sticking with us Bill even though activity has dropped off.

I appreciate it Bill, It seems that whatever works for you as far as a address works for us... So if you would like to change to MVE.com or whatever is good for you...Thanks again.

Anyone else having trouble staying logged in? Every
time I come to the website I'm required to log in again.

I usually have to address it twice before I get through the log on page.
Possibly a Mac thing.

I've always had problems with auto login on these php bulletin boards. But then, I've always used a Mac.
