Winter project

If in doubt, or it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere - put it here.

I have a spare, new fiberglass cafe racer style seat without upholstery if anyone is interested.
Always wear protective gear. Usually SPF 30 will do.

It's getting busy around here. Latest projects will be 2 DBD34 Goldstars. The street Clubman is for Ron and the Catalina Scrambler will be mine.
My first big dirt bike in 1964 was a B33 Goldstar. I still have one and will restore it eventually.

Since it is summer- no longer a winter project. AND it I had no plan to make it a project anyway.

I went to pull out the Ducati, replace the belts and Change the oil. I have not ridden it much in some time.
Moving the bike, I noticed some oil on the front tyre. Hmmmm. Then I look where it was parked and a pool of oil there. One of the fork seals failed and the brakes and tyre were soaked in oil
Then I checked the date code on the tyres- 10 years old. Looks like both will get replaced.

So I got Ohlins fork seals and proper oil. Popped off the front wheel and forks- replaced the seals and oil- bled the cartridge and set level and forks are good. Cleaned off the rotors- then did it again. Then did it again.
Cleaned up the calipers and replaced the pads, then flushed the brake fluid- then the clutch fluid.

Then I turned it around and took of the rear wheel (one large nut), replaced the tyre, found the rear brake had oil from an overactive auto chain oiler (My fault- the numbers go ‘backward’. Lower number is more oil. So I wanted a bit less and...)
So replacing the rear pads and cleaning all that up.

Replaced the cam belts and checked the tensioner bearings. You are supposed to do them every two years- they have a very tight radius and pretty high rpm. Not much force, since the valve springs are tiny little things just to seat the valve for starting. (Desmo).

I should have it ready end of the week or next week. So I figure it will start raining Monday.

Back to the dirt where I belong.

Summer project is my 2000 Suzuki Bandit...Clean low miles but having to deal with the carbs and changing the rims from PM racing mags to stock rims with a cush drive. Been a problem but seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm hoping to get the powder coating to the rims done this month and then final assembly can be started.

Ducati is all done.
But I’ve been too busy dirt riding and getting the kitchen remodeled and other stuff to actually go ride it!

Sunday was fairly Smokey out in the dirt- but not TOO bad. I don’t think I would even go today. Smoke is awful, I’ve never seen it this bad before here. No likey.

This winters project will be my all time favorite. An old Vinnie. Wish it could tell it's story. Lots of Gunk and cleaning to go.
