About the Week:
From the street to the track to the trail, there are millions of motorcycling enthusiasts. Some ride to work every day, others ride for pleasure on the weekend. Motorcycles and their riders journey far and ride – and they’ve got the stories to prove it. Marymount Motorcycle Week will offer an opportunity to visually tell some of those stories while guests get an up-close-and-personal look at vintage and specialty street bikes, dirt bikes, sport bikes, cruisers, scooters, race bikes, and more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy at this family-friendly event!
Presented by the LeMay Family Collection Foundation, VME, PNW Museum of Motorcycling, and Tacoma Motorcycle Club, Marymount Motorcycle Week features an indoor display of more than 200 vintage and specialty motorcycles, an AHRMA-sanctioned vintage trials course on Saturday, a special display from the PNW Museum of Motorcycling, and an outdoor cruise-in that Father’s Day weekend. The heavy-hitter all-stars of motorcycle history like BMW, BSA, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Triumph, Yamaha, and more will be highlighted during this special week which will attract hundreds of automotive and motorcycle enthusiasts. About the AHRMA Vintage Trials Course
Spectators and Mark are welcome to watch this fun observed trials course where skilled novice, intermediate, and expert riders on vintage motorcycles compete on a very specific and challenging obstacle course at Marymount – testing both man AND machine. This safe and historically accurate racing environment will showcase these vintage machines. Observed trials are a very significant part of historic motorcycle competition. Cross-country riding is how motorcycling began, and as the motorcycles and roads improved, riders still challenged themselves with off-road competitions on ancient Roman roads and on “cow and wagon” trails in the USA. As this “gentleman’s sport” has developed, eventually the competition organized into reliability runs, enduros, “hare and hounds”, and closed course hare scrambles. This observed trials course at Marymount will feature observed sections open to spectators composed of some wide-open areas of challenging terrain and other sections. With period-accurate sections, machines will remain true to their original concept, and the techniques required to ride them will do the same, enhancing the entire vintage trials event for spectators and participants. The trials-riding (and watching!) experience undoubtedly results in good friends, good rides and good fun for all!
