Vintage Motorcycle Eccentrics

Well, maybe not 100% accurate, I've had my old 1968 Benelli 50 Dynamo Trail all along.
My longtime buddy Glen called me up the other day and we of course talked about lots of stuff.
But he also gave me the old OSSA GPII Phantom I bought new!
It is super rough, wrong engine poorly installed and needs loads and loads of work. But it should be a fun long term project to get it back like when I owned it. Some stuff is still exactly the same and some stuff butchered and/or missing.

But one day I'll get it all back together.

It should go well with me new 2014 OSSA Explorer I'm getting.

Sounds cool Mark I love to check that out I was always a big fan of Ossa phantoms , cool bikes I remember the picture that you had of you with one, cool

This is the same bike, I was going flattrackng with it at Castle Rock (old circuit)

I took that horrible Kawasaki engine out (well, it was probably fine in big heavy 400 Kaw), got rid of a bunch of butchering and the bike all all apart.
Next to fix one part of the frame he ruined to fix that engine (I'll bet the skid plate for the low Kaw pipe weighed 20lbs!). Then prepare to weld stock type engine mounts back in.

I'll probably sandblast it first, and get the rear wheel back on the right direction so I can make sure the chain lines up...

Of course, it may be years before I can scrounge the parts I need at the price I want to pay.
Many brand new reproduction parts are avaliable, but some are darn expensive.

The bike is now totally apart.
Sme things were a bit of a challenge after decades sitting outside (brakes, axles)
The front axle came right out, I think I may have been the last one to reinstall it! Still had antisize on it.
I had to laugh when I pulle ether front tyre. There were about 10 patches on the tube!

I've learned a lot since then (been a long time since I've pinched a tube)

I have an SDR engine that has the same engine mounts, so I'll use it to build replacements.
