Nice to hear progress happening. You mentioned your vapor blaster before. Did you build this or is it a mfg item? They do
such a nice job compared to other media types.

This is how I set up a wheel for re-spoking. The blocks are notched to the height that controls the offset. Once all spokes
are started it's easy to rotate the rim on the blocks to do the takeup. Then it goes on the truing stand.

I bought it.
It does a very nice job. A lot slower than the ‘pro’ ones- but does just as nice job. Just takes longer.
The big ones are quite expensive ($5-10k) and I couldn’t justify something like that.

I did this hub this morning along with some other small parts. Looks quite nice.
I need to polish up the rim a bit- then start to put it together. Too bad I couldn’t see your setup for wheel lacing. There is not much offset from the edge of the drum (2.5mm), but starting with the offset right will make things a lot easier I think.

I did something similar for my wheel- I routed out a piece of plywood to allow the brake drum to sit at the correct height, then the Rim sits on the wood. I screwed some bocks in to make the hub/rim centered. A bolt down the middle of the hub to hold it in place.
I *think* I’ll be able to put the spokes in, clamp down to the board to get it close- then all the final adjustment on the truing stand.
I’ll see how that works in practice. I have another rear to do after this one and the front of course. (Front has quite large dual cast iron rotors)

I put it back in and now they look pretty much as good as the best part all over. No light, so I put a LED trouble light over the top. I will see about a little better lighting method. Something inside would be nice, maybe a small waterproof LED setup would work ok.

Bummer, Vaporblasting.com isn't a working website now.
The before / after of your parts is a big improvement. For now I'm bead blasting the parts then rubbing the out with steel wool cloth. Just can't get down in between the fins and such.

Oh, Bill changed some setting on our website so can add a few more photos. I'll delete some of my older archived photos to help free up some space.

Wheel relacing is coming along quite well. No big issues.
The black stuff on the back of the rim is antiseize for the stainless spokes/nipples.

Next will be the front wheel. I popped off the old tyre this afternoon and will strip it down so I can clean it up.

I think I may have to have the rotors turned though. Anyplace around here good at that? I imagine any machine shop could do it? (A bit of scoring on the inside of the rotors, not bad and seem to be full thickness now).

Looks nice. I don't know anyone who machines motorcycle disks. May want to consider one of those disk brake grinding burrs from NAPA. Are they floating Brembos or Gremecas? I turned the non floating cast steel Gremeca disks on the XR and they came out ok.

Non floating Brembo (cast iron). They are not too bad- I’ll inspect closer and see. The inside of one does have a bit of light scoring.
