John, are you taking it to the Northwest Motorcycle Classic in Lynden?

Is the Benelli engine going back together yet? Do you find that the aluminum surface you vapor blasted is easier to keep clean?

I’m waiting on bearings. (Suppliers was out of some- sending all at once).
I got the replacement pistons (supplier sent me 4 of one type, 2 of another- with different weights! So then send 2 more to match the others. Cosmo (biggest stockist of Benelli parts) sold all their stuff to an outfit in Germany)

The blaster sprayed with kroil when hot- he said it has worked well for him to keep a nice finish.
I suppose alternately, no coating and a prompt coast of clear would work well? So far it has stayed very nice, but of course I have not really done much to it.

The fun of restoring vintage bikes, right? You only mentioned that the blaster was near Shelton and you had lunch in Union while waiting. Not sure I understand using Kroil on fresh blasted aluminum, especially diecast material. I'll have to think on that one.

I think it just gets in the pores well and stops corrosion. I have not noticed Kroil being particularly ‘aggressive’ after using it for some 20 years. I’ve left it on aluminum parts for months with no sign if any sort of damage (well, that I could see).

But I’m sure he would just not spray it if you ask- but of course it needs *something* quite soon.

I use ShineSeal on most alumium I want protected. Use to be called ZoopSeal a few years ago. Popular with hotrodders.

I did a bit on the sei. Spent some time chasing and cleaning the threads in the case.
Next I’ll put in the shift forks.
Waiting on bearings- my supplier thought he would have the mains/rods two weeks ago- but still does not have them.

Measured spokes and needed dimensions to get new stainless spokes/nipples from Buchannan.

Also installed a thermostat for the heater down where I can reach it- bypassing the one in the box. A bit of work on the Beta also.
