Nice find. You don't see those around too often. My last Curnutts was on a Husky 500xc.

I see I mentioned this on the Benelli mini thread. So I’ll put it here where it belongs (for the 2 people that read it).

I got a newer ‘conical’ front brake hub and backing plate. That will be for the longer travel Betor forks I picked up NOS. They have a different backing plate holding system, so I’m just making an entire setup so I can leave the stock stuff alone.

I didn’t like the inner bearing spacer, sort of rusty. So I made one from aluminum 6061 rod I had.
Somehow rather than leaving it long and facing to fit- I managed to make it short. Oh well, could have welded it and cut I suppose, but I just made another. Good practice for me anyway.
After doing that, I realized the length of the stock one seemed a little long- Appeared it would have too much pressure on center of bearing if the bearing outer races were fully seated.
So I made a couple measuring ‘slugs’ and I can verify the spacer will be the right length. Plus I made one end of one with a guide, so I can use it to more easily install bearings.

Fun stuff, but the rod is a little big for my little machine, so had to use a live center so I could cut it.

Now to remember what those slugs were for so you don't make another one
A vapor hone is still on my wish list. Finish is so much nicer than the soda blast finish.

Yes, I should label or stamp them.
Although if I just put them in with all my other bearing drivers, they should be pretty quick to find.

I may be getting a larger vapor honer, one of the reasons I spent too much on the new air compressor. The one I have is fine with the air my old one put out-but the larger one probably would want more. The small one works pretty darn well, but just can’t fit larger stuff in there and of course takes a little more time.

I took the Super Pioneer out today.
Went up Mt Angeles rd and up on the overpass, up the old burn and onto Foothills. I rode a bunch of the new trails since I’ve been there last. The Trials area is a clear cut- so we all lost much interest.

All easy trails but still fun. Went to the new parking area, then up one of the new routes and back over the Mt Angeles rd.

Great ride (now I have to figure why the lights quit working- likely a broken wire, bad connection or switch.

Definitely looks like a fun ride. What is the difference between the Pioneer and the Super Pioneer?

The Super is MUCH lighter.
Differences as far as I know;
Phantom type frame
New porting
Better forks
Phantom seat (much better).

It weighs 205 lbs and snappier than the regular Pioneers. Still a lot of low end power but they handle better.

The sidestand on the SP was too short (and bent), heavy (steel) and the foot was big enough to catch on things.

So I made up an aluminum one. Half the weight, proper height and tucks away nicely. Not as strong, but should be adequate.
I made the pivot out of a solid square of 6061, then some same tube I had- foot was rod I cut and turned to fit. The spring pin I turned from a solid rod also.
Yeah, spent too much time, but I like the way it turned out.
