Dirt Riding east side of the mountains

If in doubt, or it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere - put it here.

Dirt Riding east side of the mountains

Postby Lotus54 » Wed Oct 02, 2013 4:50 pm

I just did a three day ride over near Entiat- some fantastic mountain trails.
Of course we did mostly expert only ones (does that mean I was an expert for a couple of days?). Nice tight, steep interesting stuff!
Some of the switchbacks were VERY tight and interesting. One quite exposed face we went down had loads of those- I rode about half of the hard ones. The rest: the exposure and consequences of a mistake had me walking around. I could have made most of those, but didn't want to take the risk. It was a LONG way down and very steep. The real experts would just do a Nose wheelie and swing the back end around. I didn't.

Weather was not so hot (snow, rain, sleet) and along some of the ridges it was darn cold with the wind. The trusty 300 worked excellent- running nice and clean with that fancy carb and essentially no spooge over the 130 miles (most running at about 8 mph avarage).

Here are a couple Of videos for those interested.

You go riding, I'll stream the videos. :D
That Ossa explorer sounds very interesting. Looks along the same idea as the Sherco X-Ride.

That is good stuff, I've been to that area, Little Naches and Gifford Pinchot and love that type of terrain. I agree with your caution, in some places the risk is too much!

If you look close you can see a breather tube on the trail.

What fun, Thanks for the VID. Wish I could do that. Those days are over for me, but live it when I see your movies.
Thanks
