Re: Rode the Sprint today

Good going Doug. Sounds like a fun rider. If you don't have an air leak or a float level surge, might think about tired springs in the ignition advance unit.
Ride on over when you have time.

Re: Some Vincent projects for John

I finally made some progress on the Vinnie yesterday. Figured I'd better do it before my eye surgery. It's not a difficult job but very time consuming since the end result is .001 clearance across the surface of the bearing journal. Next will be setting up the side clearance for the rods then pressi...

Re: February meeting is on the 21st

Jay, don't tell me you already have some t-shirts already made up. I bet they would sell big time.

Re: Carbs

Here's some old racing carbs I'm restoring for my next project. They were originally set up for alcohol but will be set up
for gas. So new slides, needles and jets are on the way.

Re: Carbs

Doug, Which Mikuni are you using? I would guess that the float level change from 0º to 30º could change the fuel level by as much as 1/16 or more. Maybe no effect at all. The Amal GP's and Dellorto SS1's with remote floats are touchy about getting the float level just right. I like to use a clear vi...

Re: Some Vincent projects for John

Thanks Gordon. Put some time in today building a crank where the main shaft had spun in the flywheel. Also the thrust washer was scored. After the old main shaft was pressed out I surface ground the thrust washer then bored the flywheel to accept the new oversize main shaft. With a bit of 609 loctit...

I hope to finish the drag bike this year. Still have to make valves and cams.

Re: Some Vincent projects for John

Max Lambky was the builder of the drag bike back in the 60s. The bike he is building now is using the motors out of his streamliner which has been retired. It should be ready to run at Bonneville this year. For a guy in his 80s he still has a passion for building fast motorcycles. http://www.landrac...
