Re: Benelli 750 sei

I moved the engine off the lift and onto my transmission jack- strapping it down. That way I can move it around. Most of the parts I was waiting on came in- the last ones are one the way. I have more polishing to do so I can mount the clutch cover - then maybe install the alternator. But I may just ...

Re: Double Trouble

Darn- at least you caught it now.
Parts from Germany are actually shipped now. I will not be buying anything from that outfit again unless nobody else in the world has it.

I thought you may like this old Benelli dual engine

Re: Benelli 750 sei

Yes, some did race them. Even stock with a 6-1 they sounded out of this world.

Re: Benelli 750 sei

Electrics are mostly Bosch. I decided to upgrade the alternator to a new one with better regulator etc and more output. The original fusebox was awful with those pointy ended German fuses. I had trouble on my original sei from the day I rode it home from the dealer. I tossed it and put one from a Da...

Re: Benelli 750 sei

Shifter in.
Kickstart shaft in (didn’t even loose anything down in the case)
Clutch on.

Cleaning oil pan (I think I’m converting to deeper pan with baffling), more to do on clutch cover.
Next up is oil pump clean/check and mount.

Re: Benelli 750 sei

More done today. Had to backtrck a little — small plastic piece I thought went somewhere else (forgot to label it). But got it fixed up. Guess over a year after taking it apart makes a guy forget stuff, At least i took lots of pictures. Cleaned parts, vaporhoned clutch cover and did a bit of polishi...

Re: Benelli 750 sei

I installed gearbox etc, bolted down bottom half of case. Still more to do (waiting on some head parts too)- but coming along really well. All new bearings- including many that were just fine. I don’t want to have to do it again to save a few bucks on bearings. The gearbox ones are quite good sized....

Re: Benelli 750 sei

I’ve always dry-seated bearing shells.
Although I don’t clean off with any solvent or anything- just wipe off any oil that may be on there.

Re: Benelli 750 sei

Pistons in the cylinder. Getting ready to pop the cylinder on the top case- but of course found I must not have ordered the two ‘O’ rings that go on the oil feed pins between case and cylinder. I’ll look again and make sure, but also asking around for dimensions of the ‘O’rings. I have the old ones,...

Re: Benelli 750 sei

Pistons/pins/rings/rods all matched and together. Installed main bearings, popped the crank in and bottom case, measured all the main clearances. All great. Then take it back apart, get ready to install pistons in the cylinder- then cylinder to top case. Drop crank it and connect all the rods (I mea...
