Re: Norton 750 Commando

I’m pretty sure it did.
I can easily check if desired though.

Re: Shadow Build

Good thing you had the rod truing tester.

It would be pretty silly to go to all that work and have something out of true and wear very quickly.

Re: Benelli Dynamo Compact

Next I had to remove the ‘pinion gear’ (drive gear of crankshaft). Another taper fit with key. Not much room and none of my pullers would fit. I was trying to figure how to make one- hopefully without spending 3 hours. I found a very small tie-rod end puller at the discount parts store. I just had t...

Re: Benelli Dynamo Compact

On this bike the countershaft sprocket is a tapered fit (with woodruf key). Since the shift shaft goes through the middle of that shaft (it has an internal engagement dog) you don’t want to press on that to remove. I have factory service manuals, but the picture of the puller was hard to see how it ...

Benelli Dynamo Compact

I picked up a Benelli Dynamo Compact mini a few years ago. My original plan was to maybe stick it on the back of the van and use for very short little trips when out camping. I didn’t do anything until after the 3 years for ‘ownership in doubt’ was cleared. And even then I thought they just sent the...

Re: Double Trouble

I have two things up next I think.  1. Put 4-shoe drum brake (with appropriate forks/tripple) on 250 Sport Special. 2. Start restoring 60s Benelli mini. I’ve pulled the engine- and pulled apart a spare to see how it comes apart (and inspect parts I may use). I went through the ‘owernership in doubt’...

Re: Shadow Build

Hmmm, I’m not sure mine works that way- I’d better check the manual. Could be.
I was going to try it out the other day- but had other stuff to do and didn’t.

I’ve never tried cutting threads, so need to learn how before I really need to do it (without a tap or die that is)

Re: Shadow Build

That is around the size of mine. Does ok for small stuff- been really handy for making bushings, spacers and bearing drivers etc. plus I have learned a lot about using it and things that matter for the machine. I thought I would use it to cut threads a lot- but I’ve still not done it. Ha it is a met...

Re: Shadow Build

Looking great.
Thanks for the tip on reversing cutter. I can see where that could ‘hone’ it lightly and leave a better finish and slightly increase size.
I can’t do that with my little tiny mill- but I can with my little tiny lathe. I will keep that in mind.
