Re: Print your own timing wheels

Hmm, maybe I will 3D print that in colour- then it could be whatever thickness wanted with centre hole size desired. Thanks

Re: OSSA Super Pioneer

I ended up with another Super Pioneer that needs everything. So I’ve decided to sell this one. (Since I enjoy fixing them up).

Anyone interested?

Millyard

Very interesting interview with Allen Millyard.
He says many of the early bikes he did not have anything but hand tools and a tiny lathe. Says he got really good with a hacksaw and can cut really straight- I sure can’t.

Re: A pack of TY175's!

I have read different things. I believe the resistor setup was originally for RF interference. This can be for radios but also could affect electronics (not much of that on a TY). But I also read someplace that it can help very slightly lengthen spark. I do not know about that or if true at all. Som...

Re: A pack of TY175's!

I am starting to have problems finding non-resistor sparking plugs. I’ve ordered B7ES and got BR7ES and local parts stores show that B7 superseded to resistor.
A non-resistor cap should solve it if you have the same issue.

Re: OSSA Super Pioneer

The sidestand on the SP was too short (and bent), heavy (steel) and the foot was big enough to catch on things. So I made up an aluminum one. Half the weight, proper height and tucks away nicely. Not as strong, but should be adequate. I made the pivot out of a solid square of 6061, then some same tu...

Re: A pack of TY175's!

I would not have thought of that- good way to get it right. Those old point systems on the bikes barely worked when working- the early Japanese ones seemed pretty bad (even though rest of electrics were pretty good). At least from what I remember. I also remember finding bad condensers even when new...

Re: A pack of TY175's!

I have one piece of oiled bronze rod if you need a small bit for something.

I am learning that it often takes more time to fabricate something to hold the part than it does to machine the actual part.
